Sababurg

  • Dornröschenschloß Sababurg
  • Dornröschen und Ihr Prinz

The small village of Sababurg has a romantic, enchanted setting in the midst of the magnificent Reinhardswald (the 'treasure house of European forests') between Kassel and Göttingen on the North Hesse side of the Weserbergland.

Hikers can reach Sababurg on the newly certified Weserbergland-Trail.

The town was named after the fortress Sababurg, which is most famous as the castle where Sleeping Beauty fell into her 100-year sleep. At the foot of Sleeping Beauty's castle is Tierpark Sababurg, where visitors can encounter 80 different animal species. Another destination is the ancient forest of Sababurg, the oldest conservation area in Hesse.
