Like an island in the green, Neuhaus and Silberborn, including the settlements of Fohlenplacken and Mühlenberg, are situated in the Hochsolling, the highest part of the Solling and in the centre of the region, offering a healthy climate typical of the low hills.

At an altitude of almost 500 m, Silberborn is close to the Mecklenbruch, one of the biggest highland moors in Lower Saxony.
