Oberweser offers visitors both, tranquillity and a wide range of leisure activities. There is canoeing and steamer trips on the Weser, well-maintained hiking paths (-> Weserbergland-Weg ), an extensive network of cycle paths, riding, tennis, indoor and outdoor swimming pools just to name a few of the many amenities. Visitors from Oberweser enjoy free admission to the outdoor and indoor pools when they present a spa card, but visitors from the surrounding area are also welcome. Friendly hosts offer a warm welcome at the local hotels, inns, holiday apartments, guesthouses and farms with accommodation.

The fairytale character of Puss in Boots is from Oedelsheim, while the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves originates in Gieselwerder, both in Oberweser. Both districts are on the Weserbergland-Weg and are also officially recognised as climatic spas. For camping there are two managed campsites beside the river. Cyclists are drawn to Oberweser by the Weser-Radweg.
